Pooh-Man, also known as MC Pooh (born Lawrence Lee Thomas, January 25, 1971) is a a hip-hop/rap artist who has released several albums on various labels, including Jive Records. His lyrics focused on the topics of sex, money and murder (his song "Sex, Money, and Murder" appeared on the soundtrack to the 1992 film Juice).
He was active in the music industry from the early 1990s onward. His only charting album, 1992's Funky As I Wanna Be, gained notoriety for its risque cover, featured guest appearances by MC Breed, Too Short, and Ant Banks, and brought him his biggest commercial success.
Pooh-Man's third release, Judgement Day, contained insults directed at Too Short, Ant Banks, Spice 1 and The Dangerous Crew. One single, "Run Nigga Run", received light airplay on BET in the summer of 1993, though the title was changed to "Run Brother Run" in order to satisfy network censors. He appeared in the Hughes Brothers 'hood film Menace II Society later in the year.
Pooh-Man reunited in the studio with Ant Banks and Stan “The G-Man” Keith in January 2014. He is the featured artist for the newly established Infinite Kaos Productions Inc. based in Central Florida. Mesmerized will be the 1st single released July 1, 2014. The “Kaos Theory” will be released August 1st. He will be touring Bi-coast-ally from the Bay to Tampa Bay. Serving as his first official full-length album since 2001, The Kaos Theory has been years in the making.
The Kaos Theory will be in stores summer of 2014 via Infinite Kaos Records, and in June 2014 Pooh-Man will hold a private listening party in Oakland, California. The album will feature guest appearances from various new and local talents such as Ant Banks, Yuk Mouth, Sug and Otis, Big Zeke the Politician, Deon Jackson, Marko, Poohdolla, Rae “butIbeenthebomb” Jones, Rhamia Hall and more, with production by Ant Banks, Big Zeke the Politician and Stan “The G-Man” Keith. In the near future Pooh-Man will release a documentary about his life which will be filmed by Christopher Ellis of Ceezer Films, based out of Oakland, California.
